Feed Your Faith

Recently, I listened to a prophetic word concerning the times we are living in and what was before us. The prophetic person was sharing how they saw food shortages coming. It got me thinking about what I could do to prepare. Gardening is not easy in Colorado, and we had just redone our back yard eliminating the main garden area. I pondered stocking up on basics and all the things recommended in times of shortages. What I didn’t realize was a seed of fear was being planted in me.

Fear is not an emotion I normally struggle with and to be honest I wasn’t aware of the fear until I picked up a Bible one morning.  This wasn’t my normal devotional Bible, just one I had sitting by my chair in our Living room.  The Bible flopped open to the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish. As I read the account, I felt the seed of fear surface. The truth of the Word of God uprooted the fear and once again I was in a place of faith as I knew the Lord could provide miraculously.

About an hour later as I was minding my own business, I heard the Lord say, “Feed your faith.” This resonated in my spirit. We can feed on the fear, or we can feed our faith. How? you might ask do we feed our faith? Faith comes by hearing. (Romans 10:17). We can feed our faith, by reading the miraculous feats of Jesus in the word of God, we can feed our faith by reading stories of how God worked in peoples’ lives in the past in times of need or in times of revival. We can listen to the testimonies of our friends who have seen God do miracles in their lives. We can practice exercising our faith, so our faith grows stronger. We also can prepare for situations as the Lord directs so we are living from a place of obedience instead of procrastination. (There is not a great deal of peace for the procrastinator.)

Father God, thank you that you say you will never leave us or forsake us. I choose to place my faith in this truth. I don’t like the taste of fear and I don’t want to feed on it. I choose to feed my faith. I choose to meditate on you and your goodness. I choose to read the stories of great people of faith, and I choose to extend my faith to see you work in my life. Thank you for helping my faith to grow.

And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him. Heb. 11:6 TPT
